Meet Chuck & Heather

Chuck here from Bittersweet Springs, my wife Heather and I have always owned a handmade business, starting in the 1980's as soon are we were married, we made and sold gifts at craft fairs and in stores. Over the years our craft has changed, as trends change. In 2013, we were making home decor items out of barn wood, but barn wood started to saturate the market. One summer day we were at an auction in NW Arkansas and saw a giant pile of corrugated metal and we got inspired to go in a different direction. I learned how to cut metal and Heather started getting creative with all the ways we could repurpose these sheets that were once used on the tops of beautiful barns and now needed a new home.

Our product line starts by searching the countryside for barns and other structures which are ready to fall down. Our goal is to repurpose the materials that would otherwise be discarded. We hand draw and hand cut each shape and put the finishing touches on with care, whether it be cleaning, hammering out old nail holes, or adding our fabric garland. Our shop is currently housed in our big blue barn in NW Oregon.
